Dr. Barrett is a medically licensed physician with specialty training in comprehensive eye care and ophthalmic surgery. He was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended North Central High School. Dr. Barrett obtained his undergraduate degree from Indiana University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science in biology, a minor in Spanish, and a business certificate in 1996.
While at IU he was a four-year varsity letterman in Men's Tennis and a three-time academic All-American. In 1995, he won the prestigous Tichenor Award recognizing the top scholar-athlete at Indiana University. Dr. Barrett then moved to Indianapolis where he received his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Barrett completed his one year internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He then moved to Dallas, Texas where he completed his residency in comprehensive ophthalmology at the University of Texas/Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Barrett is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Indiana State Medical Association. He is certified on both the Wavelight Ex500 Excimer Laser and the Wavelight FS200 Femtosecond Laser.
Over the past 12 years, Dr. Barrett has provided care for over thirty thousand patients throughout central Indiana. He has performed over five thousand ophthalmic surgeries since graduating from medical school in 2000. His specialty areas of expertise include Femtosecond LASIK, PRK, deluxe cataract surgery and eyelid surgery. Dr. Barrett also has an appointment as a Volunteer Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Barrett currently lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife Hilary and their two daughters, Emma and Libby. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, running, reading and coaching his two daughters in their various sports.
Dr. Courtney Gonzales is a licensed optometrist in the state of Indiana. She grew up in northwest Indiana and graduated with a degree in Biology from Ball State University. After undergrad, she attended the University of Missouri - St. Louis’ College of Optometry where she received her doctorate. She lived and practiced in St. Louis until 2018 when her and her family returned to their home state to be closer to family.
Dr. Gonzales is passionate about eye care and sees patients of all ages. She expertly fits glasses and contact lenses and also manages eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as performs diabetic eye exams.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Indiana Optometric Association.
Dr. Gonzales lives in Indianapolis with her husband, a historian, and their two boys William and Charlie. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and anything crafty.
