At Barrett Eye Care, we offer both functional and cosmetic eyelid lifting procedures that help our patients see better and look better. A majority of the eyelid procedures that we perform are done on patients that have significant eyelid drooping which is obstructing their peripheral visual fields. In cases of moderate to severe eyelid droop, pre-operative testing can be done and the procedure is usually covered by the patient’s major medical insurance.
Our eyelid lifting surgeries are done on an outpatient basis in a surgery center. The procedure generally takes about 1 hour to complete and the patient is released to return home approximately 1 hour after the procedure. Sutures are placed in the upper eyelid and they are removed in the office, 1 week after the procedure. Patients can expect some bruising and swelling following the surgery but most are able to return to work or normal activities the following day. If you have droopy or heavy eyelids and are interested in improving you vision and appearance, feel free to contact our office for a consultation. A quick examination can determine whether or not you are a candidate for the surgery and whether or not insurance would cover the surgery.
